Renewing pill prescription?

i've been on the pill for 5 months and my doctor gave me a 6 month prescription, i must renew it next month but do i have to go down to see him to do this even though i'm happy with the brand i'm on and don't have any problems with and end up paying €50 for the consultation or can i just phone him to renew it?
