Why do people believe in religion?

I mean, do you honestly think humans were just suddenly created out of thin air? Or that people are just magically resurrected? I mean sure, I believe SOMETHING had to create the universe, but I don't use religion as a quick and easy scape-goat from the truths of reality. And those who think they were blessed by God or had their life saved, I'm sure you weren't swept off your feet by an imaginary hand while you were jumping off the top of a building because you can't fathom reality.
