How do you interpret a hand squeeze?

Ok, this may be a silly question but I have a crush on this guy and I know he doesn't return the feeling but I think he knows about my crush and I think he might be subtly trying to tell me it's okay with him. Last night I was doing something where I had to momentarily hold hands with him and he was talking to a group of us. And whenever he said, "I love every single one of you" he squeezed my hand. So I squeezed his back. Does that mean anything or am I just reading way into nothing?
