In 'The Dark Knight', what distinguishes 'good guys' from 'bad guys'?

That's the point of the movie. To show that Batman is really no different in his actions than Joker or Scarecrow. You are made to decide, as the viewer, to whether Batman's intentions make him a good guy, or just another criminal.
