Should I keep my dead sim's remains on the ground, or in her husband's inventory?

I'm trying to be able to play my sim as a ghost, i heard that you have to keep their grave-stone, and wait til you get a call from the science facility offering to resurrect them. But should i keep my sim's remains in her garden, house or husband's inventory?
