Cost to repair oil leak in my mustang?

the leak has gotten worse i see a bigger mess of oil on my drive way than i did 3 months ago. my mechanic said the leak was coming from the engine??? said they would have to lift the engine 2in higher to remove the and replace the oil gasket.. that right sounds exspenive!lift my engine higher!?!?!the part comes from autozone for $24 but they get there parts from napa as they are sponsered by them and are very good, i believe he wouldnt cheat me out since ive gone to him and ask him how to repair some of my own stuff cuz he didnt wanna charge me $200 to remove one screw on the transmission module. any ideas i might be quoted on? its a 92 2.3 mustang lx 4 cyl.
